The Mushroom Diet, also known as the M Plan, has been trumpeted as an effective way for women to lose weight from the stubborn areas of their bodies. It purports that with this diet, by replacing one dinner or lunch snack with a raw mushroom dish, women can lose weight from their butts, upper arms, thighs and stomachs, while maintaining their bust size.

Does it Work?

Since raw mushrooms are so very low in calories, just 15 calories per cup. As part of a diet, being low in calories, they certainly can help with weight loss. Since mushrooms have very high nutritional values, it's less likely, overall, that higher calorie foods will be eaten throughout the day. Since mushrooms contain dietary fiber, eating them can help reduce your appetite, helping to reduce snacking. Mushrooms have been proven to be as fully satisfying as meat.

However, dietary experts say that claims about this diet as to losing weight from stubborn areas of the body while maintaining the bust, are unproven claims without merit.
